When Dale Jarrett won the Winston Cup in 1999 his father, Ned, looked on with special pride. Ned had won 2 Championships himself in the 1960's making them first father and son to do so. Dale took over the #28 car for Robert Yates Racing after Ernie Irvan had a bad accident in 1995. Yates was so impressed with his driving skill that he gave Dale is own #88 car. That proved to be a good investment when Dale brought RYR their first Cup 4 years latter.
