# 00 Burger King Toyota Camry |
Driver; David Reutimann Crew Chief; Larry Carter |
Owner; Michael Waltrip Racing |
This is the first team to be announced by Toyota. Michael will be a great team owner as he knows all sides of NASCAR. He has chosen a veteran driver and a new comer for his teammates. If Toyota backs the Cup cars like they did the trucks, this team can be very strong in 2 years. |
# 01 U. S. Army Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Mark Martin / Regan Smith Crew Chief; Ryan Pemberton |
Owner; Ginn Racing |
Mark gets in the car for 22 races. Rookie Reagan Smith drives the other 16. So much for Mark's retirement! |
#07 Jack Daniels Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Clint Boyer Crew Chief; Gil Martin |
Owner; Richard Childress Racing |
A new RCR team for 20005, Clint was put in the seat early that year and
showed talent by winning a race. The team finished 17th in points which is
very respectable for a young team. Watch them in 2007.
#1 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Martin Truex Jr. Crew Chief; Kevin Manion |

Two time Busch Series Champ Truex moved up to the Cup Series in a new DEI ride in 2006. Finished 19th in points. He and Junior are best of friends. This guy can drive a race car. Give him a few years and he will be one of the best. |

# 7 Jim Beam Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Robbie Gordon Crew Chief; Greg Erwin |
Owner; Robbie Gordon John Menard |
What can I say about Robbie? Great road course driver. Great at the off road Baja stuff. But he can be dangerous in a Nextel Cup car! |
# 8 Budweiser Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Crew Chief; Tony Eury, Jr. |
Owner; Dale Earnhardt Inc. |
Hands down, the most popular Race Car driver on the Planet. But now he wants to be majority owner of DEI. His dad started the company for him so that may be fair. But Teresa made Dale, Sr. what he was with her marketing savy. Jr. might have been better off waiting a few years before he pulled out that card. |
# 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Charger |
Driver; Kasey Kahne Crew Chief; Kenny Francis |
Owner; Ray Evernham Motors |
Kasey qualifies very well and wins races. But I feel he needs a few years to get that cup. |
# 10 Valvoline Dodge Charge |
Driver; Scott Riggs Crew Chief; Rodney Childers |
Owner; Ray Evernham Motors |
Scott was a Rookie in this car last year. raced well, didn't cause any wrecks. With Evernham behind him he will do well or be gone soon. |
#11 Federal Express Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Denny Hamlin Crew Chief; Mike Ford |

This kid surprised every one in 2006! First he won the Budweiser shootout. In 36 Cup races he had 3 poles, 2 wins, 8 top 5's, and 20 top 10's! He also ran 35 Busch races. With 2 poles, 2 wins, 12 top 5's, and 23 top 10,s! I may be wearing a #11 shirt this year! |
# 12 Alltel Dodge Charger |
Driver; Ryan Newman Crew Chief; Mike Nelson |
Owner; Penske Racing |
This young driver has a B.A. in Engineering from Purdue. This team runs well every year. Ryan had a record 8 Poles in 2005. But in 2006 the ream struggled and ended the season 18th in points. |
#14 Waste Management Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Sterling Marlin Crew Chief; Richard "Slugger" Labbe |
Owner; Ginn Racing |
Sterling Marlin is a veteran driver in the Nextel Cup Series. He drove the #40 Coors Light car for 10 years. Chip Ganassi Racing decided to make big changes for 2006 which left Sterling out of the #40. This will be a nice ride for Sterling until he retires. He can win a few too! |
#16
Ameriquest
Ford Focus |
Driver; Greg Biffle Crew Chief; Pat Tyson |
Owner; Roush Racing |
This team is hot right now. 2006 saw them have 2 poles, 2 win's 8 top fives, and 15 top 10's. Greg could be the next Mark Martin for Roush Racing. |
# 17 DeWalt Tools Ford Focus |
Driver; Matt Kenseth Crew Chief; Robby Reiser |
Owner; Roush Racing |
This team was second in Cup points for 2006, and are the 2003 Champions. Mat is a smart driver and can get the job done every day. He also knows when to bump a car out of the way if it needs to be done! |
# 18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; |
Owner; |
This is Bobby Labonte's old ride. Bobby moved to the #43 at Petty Racing for 2006. Yeley did a good job for JGR in 2006 but had tons of bad luck. I hope he can turn 2007 around. |
# 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Charger |
Driver; Elliott Sadler Crew Chief; Joe Browne |
Owner; Ray Evernham Motors |
Elliot has been around NASCAR for several years in different rides. Good driver and a true gentleman of the sport. I doubt this team has a championship in them, but they can race hard and be completive for a long time. |
# 20 Home Depot Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Tony Stewart Crew Chief; Greg Zipadelli |
Owner; Joe Gibbs Racing |
The Nextel Cup Series 2002 & 2005 Champion. This team had some bad luck in 2006 and did not make The Chase. He has gotten in trouble shooting off his mouth but has mellowed in the last couple of years. But you can not argue with his stats, 8 years in the Nextel Cup, 284 races with an average finish of 12.2. 29 wins, 108 top 5's, 168 top 10's! |
# 21 Motorcraft Ford Focus |
Driver; Kenny Schrader / Jon Wood Crew Chief; Michael Mc Swain |
Owner; Wood Brothers |
The Wood Brothers are the oldest lasting continuous race team. Kenny has raced everything on wheels for many years and still does! A good driver at the end of his career and funny too! He will share driving duties with Jon Wood. |
# 22 Caterpillar Dodge Charger |
Driver; Dave Blaney Crew Chief; Kevin Hamlin |
Owner; Bill Davis Motors |
Blaney is an average drive. Can't figure out how to stay away from accidents. Won't be in the hunt at all this year. |
# 24 Dupont Finishes Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Jeff Gordon Crew Chief; Steve Letarte |
Owner; Hendrick Motors |
Jeff is a 4 time champion. Arguably the best driver in NASCAR. Got married again. Won some races in 2006. Not much more to say about Jeff. He just wins and races clean. |
# 25 GMAC Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Casey Mears Crew Chief; Lance McGrew |
Owner; Hendrick Motors |
Casey left the #42 Ganassi team to come over to the #25 to replace Brian Vickers who went with a new Toyota team. This could be a good fit for all involved. |
#26
Crown Royal Ford Focus |
Driver; Jamie McMurray Crew Chief; Lance McGrew |
Owner; Roush Racing |
This team did not do well in 2006. New crew, new driver. Don't look for them to do too much in 2007. But they can do better when they get the communication thing down better. |
# 29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Kevin Harvick Crew Chief; Todd Berrier |
Owner; Richard Childress Racing |
Harvick is a very capable driver with a strong team. In 2006 he has 5 wins, 15 top 5's and 20 top 10's. Oh, and he won the Busch Series Championship too! |
# 31 Cingular Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Jeff Burton Crew Chief; Scott Miller |
Owner; Richard Childress Racing |
Jeff moved to this car in 2005 after many years in the #99 for Roush Racing. He is a
proven winner and hopefully has found a good home with the RCR team. This
team was in the hunt for the cup in 2006. But some bad luck at the
left them 7th at the end.
#36 360 OTC Toyota Camry |
Driver; Jeremy Mayfield Crew Chief; Scott Miller |
Owner; Gill and Bill Davis Racing |
Another new Toyota team. Somehow Mayfield has never shown me much. Maybe when Toyota teams get it all together he will change my mind. |
# 38 M&M's Ford Focus |
Driver; David Gilliland Crew Chief; Todd Parrott |
Owner; Robert Yates Racing |
Rookie driver in one of oldest and most respected cars in NASCAR. BIG shoes to fill! But Yates has taken young guys to the top before. |
# 40 Coor's Lite Dodge Charger |
Driver; David Stremme Crew Chief; Steve Lane |
Owner; Chip Ganassi Racing |
Another new rookie. Ganassi likes these kind of drivers. Could work or maybe not. |
#41 Target Dodge Charger |
Driver; Reed Sorenson Crew Chief; Jimmy Elledge |
Owner: Chip Ganassi Racing |
Sorenson is the second of the new young guys for Ganassi Racing. He had 2 wins in the Busch Series and ended 4th in points. |
#42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger |
Driver; Juan Pablo Montoya Crew Chief; Donnie Wingo |
Owner: Chip Ganassi Racing |
Juan Pablo comes to the NASCAR Series from Formula 1 racing. He is a proven open wheel racer having own many times in both the F-1 and CART racing series. Many eyes are looking at him to see if he can handle a heavier NASCAR car. |
# 43 Cheerios Dodge Charger |
Driver; Bobby Labonte Green Crew Chief; Paul Andrews |
Owner; Petty Enterprises |
Bobby was the Cup Champion in 2000. He drove the #18 for Joe Gibbs for 10 years. In 2006 he jumped over to Petty Enterprises. This can be a nice ride for the rest of his career and he can help bring Petty back to the top where they deserve to be. Booby struggled early on but raced well at the end of 2006. He may be the Dodge to watch on 2007. |
#44 UPS Toyota Camry |
Driver; Dale Jarrett Crew Chief; Matt Borland |
Owner; Michael Waltrip Racing |
D. J. was the 1999 Champion. After 12 years with Robert Yates Racing he decided to move on. The challenge of starting a new them with a new manufacturer appealed to him. I know he can get Toyota and MWR off to a great start in 2007. |
# 45
Wells Fargo Dodge Charger |
Driver; Kyle Petty Crew Chief; Billy Wilburn |
Owner; Petty Enterprises |
Kyle runs Petty Enterprises and the Victory Junction Camp for children. His plate is very full but he manages to drive well when his luck holds out. |
#48 Lowe's Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Jimmy Johnson Crew Chief; Chad Knaus |
Owner; Rick Hendrick/ Jeff Gordon |
Jimmy is the 2006 NEXTEL Champion. He earned every bit of it too by racing hard and yet smart. In the last 4 years Johnson has finished second and fifth in Cup points twice each! But then when you start out driving Jeff Gordon's old cars and have him as an owner it can't be all bad! |
#55 NAPA Toyota Camry |
Driver; Michael Waltrip Crew Chief; Doug Hyder |
Owner; Michael Waltrip Racing |
MWR was the first to sign a big deal with Toyota. He is building a $20 million race shop/ event center with their money. Along with his #55 PAPA car he lured Dale Jarrett and UPS over to his stable. Between them they have won the Daytona 500 6 times! We will see how long it takes Toyota to win a race, but I bet one of these teams is first! |
#66 Best Buy Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Jeff Green Crew Chief; Harold Holly |
Gene Haas Automation | Jeff Green has run in all 3 major NASCAR series. He can drive a race car but don't look fir him to win many. |
#78 Furniture Row Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Kenny Wallace Crew Chief; Joe Garone |
Furniture Row Racing | Rusty Wallace's brother. Nicknamed "Herman" Kenny is a very capable driver but he is at his best in front of a TV camera. If he can't make you laugh you must be dead! |
#83 Red Bull Toyota Camry |
Driver; Brian Vickers Crew Chief; Doug Richert |
Red Bull Racing | Vickers moves form the #25 of Hendricks to take this new Toyota ride. He did get his first win in 2006. Brian is a good driver and if Toyota can up to speed fast he can be up there in the Chase. |
# 84 Red Bull Toyota Camry |
Driver; A. J. Allmendinger Crew Chief; Ricky Viers |
Another successful open wheel racer coming over to NASCAR. He almost had the CART series championship in 2006 but was dropped when he signed with NASCAR | |
# 88 Snickers Ford Focus |
No Picture Available |
Driver; Ricky Rudd Crew Chief; Butch Hylton |
Owner; Robert Yates Racing |
This was Dale Jarrett's ride for 12 years. Ricky has driven in NASCAR for 31 years! He took a year off in 2006 but is ready to come back in 2007 and kick some butt! He once drove a race with duct tape to hold his eyes open after a head injury! |
#96 Texas Instruments Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
Driver; Tony Raines Crew Chief; Brandon Thomas |
Owner; Hall of Fame Racing |
This was a new tem started by NFL greats Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach in 2006. Tony ran pretty well for a new team. They ended 35th in points for 2006 |
# 99 Ford Focus |
![]() |
Driver; Carl Edwards Crew Chief; Bob Osborne |
Owner; Roush Racing |
What can you say about this young guy. He stormed into the Cup Series in
2005 with 4 wins, 13 top 5's and 18 top 10's! And he does back flips off his
car when he wins. This team ran hard and looked to be Cup contenders. But a few bad luck races left them in 12th 2006. |
